Tip your hat to Halloween 27Oct08

So my favourite holiday of the year is nearly upon us… yup, that’s right, Halloween is on its way. But this year, why not tone down the goth and glam it up instead? That doesn’t mean you need to make a big effort – in fact, just a well-chosen hat can really make an outfit - and you’ll look 100x better than your mate whose costume consists of wearing devil’s horns on a hairband or a plastic vampire cape…

For some inspiration, here’s a selection of Topsy Turvy Design’s wonderful and sometimes weird hats.

See more hats after the jump…

A little more love for Wednesday 22Oct08

Ok, so currently my bathroom has no hot water, pink wood panelling and a smell that I can’t seem to scrub away – but I’m already envisioning how well this Jonathan Adler love jar would go in my shiny new pristine (non-existent) bathroom. Not entirely sure what I would put in it but the lion detailing is just brilliant so that
has to count for something!

The joys of caravaning 21Oct08

There’s shop in Shoreditch called Caravan and not only do they sell lots of lovely things but they’re lovely people too. I got in touch with them recently as I was looking for ceramic wall birds to put round a few of my vintage mirrors (as you do). And they got back to me in a jiffy with loads of cool and quirky ceramic birds, so I thought I would share them with you.

1. Ceramic moneybox birds. They have them in either gold or white, and they are life-size owls, pigeons, and woodpeckers. All priced at £15 each.

2. They also have a lovely gold ceramic hen - it is a sort of lidded pot for £48.

3. They also have plaster flying birds as wall decorations - the ones I was after. (They only have the larger size in stock, at £7.50 each), and they have heavy little gold leafed metal standing birds at £8.95 each.
